Kia ora and thank you very much to those of you who were able to join us for the first Coordinators/Managers of Volunteers hui for 2024. A great start to reinvigorating our network and mapping out training needs.
At that hui, Nancy Groh from Volunteering Hawke's Bay introduced our website/database system, which allows organisations to draft and update your own listings, with support as needed. We also talked about the 3 key tasks VHB carries out:
- Connecting organisations and volunteers via our website & database
- Support and advocacy for our organisations and volunteering in Hawke’s Bay
- Developing networking and training opportunities
There was strong agreement from the group that networking was important across the Hawke’s Bay volunteer sector and that we wanted to know more about each other’s organisations to develop synergy and opportunities for collaboration. Suggestions for this included short presentations and speed dating. The consensus was to meet during office hours, and most of the group wanted to gather at least every two months.
