Building Better Not For Profit Organisations
Volunteering Hawkes Bay, The Department of Internal Affairs and Sport Hawke's Bay have prepared a calendar of workshops for 2012.
These workshops have been designed specifically to help Not for Profit Organisations operate more effectively and efficiently.
Facilitator's from across Hawke's Bay and further afield will share their expertise. Specific dates and venues have yet to be confirmed for these workshops.
There is likely to be a minimal charge to attend, to cover the cost of running the workshop.

Sustainable Funding Workshop - Exult - Kerri Tilby-Price
Workshop 1: Sustainable Funding, Wednesday 2nd May 9.30am to 4.00pm
Are you constantly scrambling to find money for everyday operations? Do you feel like you are running from one financial crisis to the next? This workshop is for you. In this workshop you will discover:
- The 7 Key Income Streams for Community Groups. Are you using them all, and if so, how can you improve them?
- The difference between donations, sponsorship and funding. What do you need to do to secure all 3?
- How you can create ongoing income streams so that cashflow is steady and consistent.
- How to generate new income using existing skills and resources.
- Why it's the same people doing all the work and how you can get more people helping out.
- How to develop a sustainable funding plan so you're not always scrambling for cash.
Workshop 2: The Secret of Sponsorship, Thursday 3rd May 9.30am - 4.00pm
Do you ever wonder why other organisations can secure the big sponsors when you can't? Would you like to understand why businesses keep turning down your proposals? In this workshop you will discover:
- The difference between donations and sponsorship - are you marketing yourself the right way?
- How to create a great sponsorship package and decide how much it is worth
- Which businesses are most likely to say yes to your sponsorship proposal
- How to make your initial approach truly effective
- The real reason for sponsorship letters and how to write them so they work
- The most common reasons sponsors say NO and what you can do about it
