Welcome to Volunteering Hawkes Bay

    OUR VOLUNTEERS

At Volunteering Hawkes Bay, we are proud of the service we provide. We often hear from our member agencies how well our volunteers are doing and we hear from our volunteers how much they enjoy their new roles. We are proud of the quality of the people who offer their services to us and to the community in general. Volunteering roles range from highly skilled positions, involving a long commitment to a scheme or intensive training, right through to dropping in for a chat every so often. Each end of the spectrum is valuable, especially to the person, animal or organisation that would otherwise be left in need.

We couldn't do it without the help of the many volunteers who have freely given their time and talents to support us.

This website and the database that allows us to advertise roles nationally are both maintained by a volunteer. Our IT maintenance, accounts and policy development are all voluntary roles. We also rely on volunteers for journalism, newsletter production, photocopying and leaflet distribution. We would be unable to operate without the support and dedication of our Board of Trustees, all volunteers.

While our recent Youth In Volunteering project was funded, the related website development, data entry, statistical analysis and projects with Purena Koa Rehua are all the result of volunteer efforts.

Our member agencies rely on volunteers to function effectively. So do we.

    Thank you for volunteering.

    Introducing...

    Hawke's Bay Prison

The volunteer programme at Hawke's Bay Prison aim to help inmates with rehabilitation through learning new skills and interests. They're currently looking for volunteers who will work one on one with prisoners, teaching reading and writing or guitar.
Also required are volunteers who can work with groups in recreational support (games and activities) and a choir master who can lead a group through various musical styles.
A respect for privacy and strong personal boundaries would be required, but for the right people, the rewards would be great.

The Youth Volunteering Project is now complete.
